The Anant Bajaj Foundation

Anant Bajaj (1977- 2018)

The speech of my heart will be carried on in murmurings of a song…

Rabindranath Tagore

Anant  Bajaj was a visionary. A businessman, a nature lover, an innovator, an  athlete, a patriot and an advocate of India’s youth. Apart from this, he  was a champion of Indian arts and culture.

Anant,  great grandson of Jankidevi & Jamnalal Bajaj,  son of Kiran and  Shekhar Bajaj, was the Managing Director of Bajaj Electricals, Ltd. He  was a driving force behind integrating some of the award-winning  initiatives in the company. He led his life driven by innovation, backed  with research.

Anant  grew up in a family surrounded by art, literature, philanthropy, sports  and music. His school, Rishi Valley and its Founder/Philosopher Shri J  Krishnamurti, further influenced his thinking. Here he learnt batik,  carpentry and  the mridangam. Later in life came the tabla, synthesiser,  santoor and the piano. Anant was drawn to all forms of art, music and  cultural heritage of India.

At  a time when business houses were focussing solely on growth and  profits, Anant was making his dream come true of a corporate world that  coexisted alongside performing arts and sports. This love and passion  led to the birth of BEAMS – Bajaj Entertainment, Arts, Music &  Sports - a platform for promotion and management of young talent in  entertainment, performing arts, music and sports. His vision was to  build a world stage for Indian performing arts.

At  Bajaj Electricals business meets, Anant invited top Indian classical  artists to give his team an experience of high-quality cultural  programmes. He never lost any opportunity to promote local and national  talent.

Anant was in tune with the melody and harmony in Nature.  He believed “Earth is what we all have in common” and  established several meaningful environmental programmes. He  demonstrated his love for mother earth by planting trees and promoting  solar energy in his business.

Anant  believed in interlinking Indian art and culture to influence people to  become better and healthier human beings. He was convinced about the  therapeutic quality of music. One of Anant’s favourite hobbies was to  connect with local, tribal and folk music. “Every note, every beat and  rhythm of India should be protected. No art form should die”, he hoped.

With  the launch of The Anant Bajaj Foundation with SPIC MACAY, Anant’s  dreams to build a better India, based on the rich tradition of culture  and arts, will carry on…
