SPIC MACAY Cinema Classics presents
Modern Times (1936) film by Charlie Chaplin
[Silent /English]
(Duration: 87 min)
Often described as a satire of the machine age, MODERN TIMES , was Chaplin's last 'silent' film, filled with sound effects, was made when everyone else was making talkies. In 1989, Modern Times was one of the first 25 films selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the United States National Film Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". An excellent criticism of Taylorism through humor relevant for any age, nationality or time; story-telling that would touch anyone alike in a universal fashion, every now and then sparkled with Chaplin's unique and deeply influential sense of humor and on-screen comedy. This captivating story with impeccable direction and astounding performances is an absolute delight to watch for any cinema enthusiast.
The screening will be followed by an interactive session with Dr. Ashok Aswani , Founder Charlie Chaplin Circle group.
