The film 'Kodiyettam' beautifully captures the irresponsible, indulging in childish pursuits and often nomadic lifestyle of a village simpleton of Kerala, Shankaran Kutty. He is provided for by his younger sister. One day he gets married. But soon his wife goes back to her parents. Also, his sister who is now living with her lover can no longer provide for him, and a kind widow who used to care for him passes away. Then he starts a job as an assistant to a truck driver. The film has a structure that resembles a typical Kerala temple festival. The title itself is an allusion to Shankaran Kutty recognizing and beginning his life. Winning 7 critical awards speak for the delight it is to watch.
The screening will be followed by an interactive session with Shri Adoor Gopalakrishnan, an eminent director, producer.
