Komal Gandhar is a Bengali film made in 1961 written and directed by noted film maker ‘Ritwik Ghatak’. He is a Padma Shri award winner for his incredible work in cinema (1970). The film won the National Film Award for Best Story (1974).

The story is about partition and its impact. Komal Gandhar is a masterpiece to understand India and us, the Indian people! Polarizing us with religious and caste identities, film speaks about the aftermath in Partition of India in 1947 and the refugees coping with it.
If we have to stop this madness, we have to understand the phenomenon of partition and its overlapping impact. The film shows the incredible truth and work which makes it must watch film for the film enthusiast.
