The Color of Paradise beautifully captures the emotional turmoil of the little boy Mohammed studying in Tehran’s institute for blind who, with a lack of vision discovers new ways to observe the world. The story follows Mohammed and his father Hashem who is constantly at war with himself on whether he should abandon the boy or accept him for who he is. Majid Majidi captures the essence of life through a masterfully created narrative which digs deep into the psyche of the characters and shows us the internal struggles they have to face. We see Mohammed as he starts questioning his faith in God and as Hashem starts to question his own self. The stellar cinematography and impeccable acting portrays the story in a manner indescribable by words. Winning 10 critical awards out of 11 nominations speaks for the delight it is to watch.
