This National Award winning film for the best direction is based on the 1979 novel _Anhe Ghore Da Daan_ by Gurdial Singh.The film depicts the predicament of the oppressed rural working class and the farmers in the Indian state of Punjab. It also captures the bitter truth of poverty so realistically that you can literally feel the frustration and helplessness of the protagonists.
The film won National Awards for Best Direction, Cinematography and Best Feature Film in Punjabi at the 59th National Film Awards of India. It also won the Special Jury Award and the $50,000 Black Pearl trophy at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival. It was also shown at the 55th BFI London Film Festival, 49th New York Film Festival and the 16th Busan International Film Festival.The film is very different from the regular fare dished out by the Punjabi Cinema, making it a rare experience.
The screening will be followed by an interaction session with Mr. Gurvinder Singh, filmmaker and director of the film.
